PEDO has initiated a Livestock and Agriculture development program in Village Sara Khawra, Peshawar in July, 2011. Under this program PEDO runs a capacity development program for farmers to:
Improve meat and milk production through modern techniques
Improve animals / cattle health by adapt preventive measure
Improve agriculture production through adapting modern techniques of cultivation
Improve forestation PEDO has also developed a model sheep farm in the village Sara Khawra.
Now PEDO is replicating the same model in Charsadda district. PEDO has conducted 4 comprehensive trainings on the above mentioned themes and have trained 65 farmers including 25 women.PEDO has the services of specialized veterinarians and agriculturists within the organization, who have introduced Sudan grass in the area, which grows with less water and contains 85% protein.
PEDO has also linked the local farmers with Government Food and Livestock department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for ongoing technical assistance and support.
Bio Gas Development Program for Environment Protection
PEDO has initiated initial social mobilization in District Charsadda to develop Bio Gas Plants in rural areas to develop alternate sources of energy. PEDO have the well qualified and experienced Bio Gas Engineer to support this initiative.
Bio Gas imitative will help the rural population in environmental protection, eradicating execessive use of labour in collecting fire wood, productive use of time in other areas such as education and production, soil fertility etc.
