Flood Relief

Flood Relief for Persons with Disabilities in Pakistan

Floods in Pakistan cause massive destruction every year, affecting millions of families. But among the most vulnerable are persons with disabilities, who face unique challenges in emergencies. At Pak Everbright Development Organization (PEDO), we believe that disability should never mean disadvantage in disasters.

Why Persons with Disabilities Are More Affected in Floods

During emergency evacuations, persons with disabilities are often left behind due to lack of accessible rescue services. Relocation camps and shelters are usually not designed with accessibility in mind—making daily survival extremely difficult. Medical needs, assistive devices, and personal support systems are disrupted, increasing their vulnerability.

Climate Change, Floods, and Disability Inclusion – PEDO’s Awareness and Action

Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it is here, and it is real. Pakistan faces devastating floods year after year, worsened by changing weather patterns. Persons with disabilities are among the most affected, as they face unique barriers in emergencies. Through our capacity-building trainings on climate change, Pak Everbright Development Organization (PEDO) is equipping communities with the knowledge and skills to respond inclusively.
